Interior house paintingis one of those do-it-yourself activities for home improvement. As you know, giving your interiors a new coat of paint is the best most affordable way to freshen up your rooms. So, painting isn’t difficult and doesn’t require specialized training. However, it needs a lot of your valuable time and patience. Also, a little bit of practice and some advice will make the job easier.
The perfect paint job starts with preparing the surface you’re going to paint. In other words, you must scrape, sand and sometimes patch every hole or crack. Basically, you have to take care of the surface imperfections to have better results. I know it doesn’t sound fun, but it’s the most critical part.
The second step is priming walls. In fact, priming is mandatory. Some people recommend that priming is necessary when painting a dark color. However, it’s smart to prime any time you paint. The functions of a prime are to block strains from bleeding through, and it improves paint adhesion. Nowadays, you can buy paints that already contain primers which make your job even more comfortable.
The third step is to cover and protect your furniture including your floor. The most common material to protect your floor is plastic drop cloths. They provide an inexpensive way to protect from paint spatters. However, we strongly recommend you to invest in a canvas drop cloth. Canvas is more durable than plastic drop cloths. Moreover, canvas absorbs paint drips, unlike plastic drop cloths.
The fourth step is to paint as you want. Besides, in this phase, you’re able to use any tool that you want. We recommend you to forget the stepladder and get yourself a telescoping extension pole for your paint roller. With an extension, the pole will be good enough to paint rooms with 8 to 9 foot tall.
Finally, if you finish painting for the day but you have to continue tomorrow; you don’t have to go through the whole process of cleaning brushes and paint-roller sleeves again and again. Instead, merely brush or roll off the excess paint. Then, wrap them in plastic food wrap. This is necessary to seal out any air.
There you have them! Now, you can start your interior house painting like a pro. However, if you don’t have enough time and patience, you can contact us for a professional hand. Also, you can check our portfolio to have a better idea of the quality of our work.
